Authentic Bhutanese cuisine, traditional buffets and warm hospitality — in the heart of the Ecological Park, Thimphu.
Traditional Cuisine House sits within the One Gewog One Product (OGOP) outlet at the Ecological Park in Changangkha — an initiative of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen to encourage and sustain rural artisans and their products. Her Majesty granted a section of the OGOP complex to the TPTC, which started the restaurant to generate revenue that sustains its work supporting the community of Trongsa Penlop scholars.
For us, it is about people — and especially the relationship between our guests and the person serving them. Unemployed youth are taught to appreciate traditional skills and products, and given on-the-job training to build professional careers of their own.
With the support of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, TPTC has taken up this sacred mandate with reverence, purpose, and dedication — viewing the vision of the TPTC Charter as an aspiration for their own lives.
TPTC is formed by recipients of the prestigious Trongsa Penlop Scholarship and the King's Scholarship, bestowed by His Majesty the King. Launched on October 28, 2012, the Traditional Cuisine House opened in June 2016 with these objectives:
To promote awareness of the variety and quality of locally produced food.
To reunite Bhutanese communities by organizing food festivals.
To revive and promote our age-old traditional cuisine.
To educate and train our youth in appreciating our traditional cuisine.
To maintain a fund to help underprivileged sections of our society.
To provide employment opportunities, and to enable self-employment too.
To care for our customers and give them true value for money.
